Our Sendy McGriffy Citizen Comp is a fun top rope/lead climbing competition in which climbers of all ages and abilities can participate!

Comp Time: 5pm-9pm

With all the effort you have put into the climbing league, this is a great opportunity to try climbing in a competition! Not only will this be alongside a Collegiate Comp, but in the morning, we will be hosting a Youth USA Climbing competition. Come watch some strong youth crushers competing from New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, & Colorado.

Pricing:

  • For anyone already part of Übergrippen’s 2023 Winter Climbing League, it is only $10 to participate!

Note:
There is a $10 spectator fee for the youth session from 8am to 4pm.
There is no spectator fee for the collegiate or citizen’s comps from 5pm to 9pm.

ÜG’s Fine Print

Release of Liability:

  • ANYONE entering the building (participants AND spectators) must have a signed, updated Release of Liability on file prior to entering the facility.
  • Participants under 18 years old must have their Release of Liability signed by their PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN ONLY
    •   No substitutes of the parent signature on the Release of Liability are accepted.
  • The Release of Liability is available online at www.ugclimbing.com/release

Belay and Lead Climbing Test:

  • All participants & coaches wanting to belay are required to take and pass our belay test prior to belaying at ÜG.
  • Belayers and lead climbers are required to come in prior to the day of the competition to take the belay test.
  • There is no charge for taking the belay and lead climbing tests in advance.
  • These tests will not be allowed during the event.
  • For lead, please arrive with a partner to test with.
  • All lead belayers and climbers must fill out this Lead Policy Agreement and arrive with a partner to take your test with.

Assisted Brake Belay Devices:

  • Particiants must use an assisted break belay device including:
    • Petzl GriGri, Edelrid Jul, Mammut Smart, BD Pilot, Trango Vergo or Cinch.
  • Tube style belay devices (ATC) are not allowed at ÜG.
  • Please bring your own devices as there may not be any available for rent the day of the competition.
