Winter League Party

Start putting together your team (up to 4 climbers) – this is a fun league that will challenge both brand new climbers as well as seasoned climbers. The more you climb, the better your odds are of winning: Arc’teryx is sponsoring this league with $1000 in gift cards to a randomly selected team of 4 at our Castle Rock Outlet store. So your team could be the big winners, even if you are a brand new climber.
The cost is only $40 and includes the league t-shirt for signups before Friday June 14th.
Overall, this league should be about working together and giving you all a better reason to talk to others that you see often around the crag. If you have any questions, please ask the staff. Thanks and good luck!
Summer League Format
- It’s ok if you don’t have a team, we’ll help connect you with others – that’s part of the fun of this league!
- You don’t need to be on a team in order to sign up, and you can even form a team after the league has begun. If you’re having a hard time finding a team, let us know. You can even begin as an individual, duo, or as a threesome and we’ll help group you up with others!
- The League is ~8-weeks long, beginning Monday June 10th.
- Monday June 10th will start with a Speed Climb for bonus points.
- The Speed Climb will be around all 8 weeks so you can practice and improve your times.
- The top 3 times in different age groups will earn additional points.
- We’ll break the age groups up based on the signups.
- There will be one new set every week.
- There will be (3) Rope Routes Sets and (3) Boulder Problem Sets
- Scores are the best of your top (3) sets (+ Week 1: bonus roped climbs) – so you can focus on Ropes, Boulders, or both!
- Week 1 – Monday June 10th: Speed Set & Bonus Climbs
- Week 2 – Friday June 14th: Bouldering
- Week 3 – Friday June 21th: Ropes
- Week 4 – Friday June 28th: Bouldering
- Week 5 – Friday July 5th: Ropes
- Week 6 – Friday July 12th: Bouldering
- Week 7 – Friday July 19th: Ropes
Last day of League: August 2nd
- Monday June 10th will start with a Speed Climb for bonus points.
- Points will be awarded for every successfully completed climb. Try as many as possible!
- A climb is completed when a climber begins on the route’s designated start hold(s) for two full seconds, completes the entire route without falling, resting on the rope, or using holds from other routes, and finishes with both hands on the finish hold(s) for two full seconds.
- If the climb is not successfully climbed, you can earn some points as each climb will feature zone holds worth some points, so even if you can’t climb the whole route, you’ll earn points based on how far off the ground you get before falling.
- If the climb is successfully climbed on the very first attempt, a flash bonus will be awarded.
- Every point earned over the course of the league is worth a raffle ticket!
- The higher you climb, the more points you earn, and the greater your chances of winning some great prizes.
Scoring:
Individual scoring is based on your best three sets out of six (+ Week 1 Bonus Points and Speed Climb Top Scores), so if you’re on vacation this summer, don’t worry, you can drop your three lowest scores!
Team scoring is the sum of each individual’s best three sets.
- Week 1 Bonus Points: TBD (Depends on the sets that day)
- Rope routes successfully climbed earns you 5 points.
- Boulder problems successfully climbed earns you 3 points.
- Flash bonus earns you 1 extra point.
- Speed Climb: Based on Age Group
- 1st place: 40 points
- 2nd place: 30 points
- 3rd place: 20 points
- Max points: Rope & Boulder problems: 48 points
League Shirts
Those that signed up by June 14th get a free League T-Shirt!
Each climber will be able to select any of these solid shirt colors that will have white ink.
Choose your favorite color or work with your team to select your team color!
Top Team Prizes
Arc’teryx is putting up some great prizes that will be won via lotto.
Again, this is a friendly league with the goal to help encourage everyone to climb as much as possible this summer. With each climb earning you raffle tickets, even teams full of new climbers have a good chance to win.

One team of four will win (4) $250 gift cards to purchase new Arc’teryx gear!
La Sportiva
La Sportiva is giving away a Gift Card for $150 in apparel and a number of Tikka Headlamps! Again, every climber has great chances of winning these prizes!
Scarpa
Scarpa is giving away a Gift Card for any pair of climbing shoes to one climber in our lotto! So, every climber has incentive to earn as many points as possible, but brand new climbers also have great odds of winning!
