3) Climbing Attire
Present yourself properly dressed for belaying, climbing, and rappelling (i.e., appropriate clothing, footwear, and a helmet; rappelers can also wear gloves).
When gearing up for climbing, belaying, or rappelling, it’s crucial to wear appropriate clothing and equipment. Choose comfortable, breathable clothing that allows full mobility without being too loose or baggy. In cooler weather, layer up and opt for moisture-wicking fabrics to keep yourself dry as you sweat from exertion.
Footwear is also key—sturdy shoes that provide excellent grip and support are essential. Climbing shoes are ideal for precision on the wall, while approach shoes offer both climbing grip and walking comfort. Don’t forget a properly fitting helmet to protect your head from falls or falling debris.
For rappelling, consider wearing rappelling gloves. They protect your hands and help you maintain control of the rope. Make sure they fit snugly to allow a good grip without restricting movement. By dressing appropriately, you’ll increase both your safety and enjoyment, making the whole experience smoother and more comfortable.
